About Switchback

Switchback was started out of some basic needs.  We saw a need for better equipment locally plus we needed more friends to ride with.  By starting Switchback we are accessing the boards, parts and safety equipment that just weren’t offered in our area.

We are a grass roots, community based shop holding local events and rides as often as we can.  Helping sponsor events and races has allowed us to meet all the people we looked up to in the longboarding community before we started and we managed to have more friends to skate with than time to skate with them!  We have gained the experience needed to offer the sort of advice that new and experienced riders are looking for.

Nanaimo is geographically superior to other island communities for the needs of longboarders.  We have been blessed with an abundance of hills ranging from steep, scary, windy corners to laid back fun cruises.  There are runs to test your skills or just ride away your troubles.
